FAQ & Policies

Why should I hire an interior designer?

Interior Designers bring a specific value and skill set to a project. Interior designers are problem solvers and big picture people. Designing client’s homes is an intimate, detailed process and an interior designer will not only listen to your ideas and goals but help bring them together and factor in functionality, aesthetics, budget, ergonomics, quality and style all while keeping who the client is and who they want to be at the center of it all. Our goal is to help you create the space you want and bring it to life. From concept to installation, an interior designer will help keep the design process simple and thorough and the construction and installation of the project efficient and complete.

Do I need an interior designer?

If you are thinking about it, the answer is probably yes! Here are some types of clients we have worked with in the past:

  • You have a small kitchen and want to make it bigger but don’t know how

  • You have a space you want to add furniture and function to but don’t know where to start

  • You just bought a new home and want to remodel part of it but can’t visualize the possibilities

  • You want your home to feel collected and curated but don’t know how to pull it together in a way that feels complete and unique

  • You are about to build a custom home but you aren’t sure it fits all your needs for you and your family and your new life

What does "Full Service Design" mean?

Full service design means beginning to finish design or from concept to installation design. As your designer, we are with you at the start of the project, building your design, through construction and installation. This is to ensure the concept we built together comes to fruition perfectly. There are many moving parts and details on a project and we have the experience and knowledge to navigate all aspects of design, construction, project management and installation to deliver a beautiful and complete home to you.

Do you work with contractors?

Yes, we work with contractors hired by the client. We love working with other design professionals to create your custom space and prefer to use professionals that we have worked with on previous projects. Domaine Interior Design does not provide contractor services however, independent architects and contractors hired by the client are an integral part of the process.

How long do projects normally last?

This depends on the scope of the project and what is purchased. Occasionally, there are delays caused by weather, vendor vacations, factory errors and other unpredictable influences that are out of my control. These things happen and should be expected. We will do everything in our control to keep the project moving forward. Everyone involved: designer, client, vendors and contractors are expected to not cause unreasonable delays in the project.

What if I decided mid-project that I want to add more rooms?

Adding more rooms to the design scope does happen and we are happy to discuss these areas with you. Upon review of the rooms and scope to be added, we can then determine the design fee for your review and approval.

What about budget?

We will do our best to work within your budget. More importantly, we make sure to ensure what is realistic within your budget. Having a clear budget is very important for the project running smoothly and for your expectations to be met. We will work inside your budget parameters, but we often find that the number a client has in mind will often double or triple based on their wish list.
