Why do I need to hire an interior designer?

Redesigning your home is incredibly exciting, but it can also feel stressful and daunting. Some clients have an idea of what they want to do with their homes but are not sure how to make it happen or if its even possible. Some clients have no idea what to do with their homes but they know they want a change, their life is evolving and their current style no longer serves them. That's where we come in. Our goal is to show you what's possible and make the design process seamless, streamlined and fun while ensuring your new home perfectly matches your style, taste, lifestyle, and overall vision. 

Do you work with contractors?

Yes, we work with contractors hired by the client. We love working with other design professionals to create your custom space and prefer to use professionals that we have worked with on previous projects. Domaine Interior Design does not provide contractor services however, independent architects and contractors hired by the client are an integral part of the process.

 

How long do projects normally last?

This depends on the scope of the project and what is purchased. Occasionally, there are delays caused by weather, vendor vacations, factory errors and other unpredictable influences that are out of my control. These things happen and should be expected. We will do everything in our control to keep the project moving forward. Everyone involved: designer, client, vendors and contractors are expected to not cause unreasonable delays in the project.

 

How do you charge?

We charge a flat fee based on the project. Full-service design starts at $6,000 and scales up from there. This fee is based on project size, complexity of the project, square footage, number of rooms and client goals. Design By Your Side fee is $400 for one (1) room. ($200 deposit required at booking; balance due week of consultation)

 

When are payments due?

Design Fees and all other reimbursable costs and expenses are due immediately upon receipt of Invoice.  All amounts that are more than ten (10) days past due will be subject to a 10% late fee and all work will cease until such amounts are paid.

 

What if I decided mid-project that I want to add more rooms?

Adding more rooms to the design scope does happen and we are happy to discuss these areas with you. Upon review of the rooms and scope to be added, we can then determine the design fee for your review and approval. 

 

What about budget?

We will do our best to work within your budget. More importantly, we make sure to ensure what is realistic within your budget. Having a clear budget is very important for the project running smoothly and for your expectations to be met. We will work inside your budget parameters, but we often find that the number a client has in mind will often double or triple based on their wish list.
